Power Battery contributes to electrification on the railways with innovative battery solution
Electrification on the track? It is possible! Power Battery has taken an important step in the electrification of the track. Our advanced liquid-cooled battery solution is now implemented in the electric track crane of De Ridder Machineverhuur. In collaboration with Nijhuis Engineering Dronten BV we have developed two interchangeable battery packs.
Our advanced battery solution weighs 800 kg and offers an impressive capacity of 244 kWh at 688 volts. The battery is fully waterproof (IP65), making it suitable for both summer and winter use. The interchangeable packs are equipped with a quick-release system and are firmly anchored to the vehicle, making them ideal for use in the field.Nijhuis Engineering has equipped the 13-year-old De Ridder track crane with a fully electric drive, while retaining the original appearance and ballast weight. With a slewing radius of 1,75 meters, the machine is equipped with two current collectors for the third rail, which enables efficient charging.In addition to electrification, the machine was partly overhauled by Nijhuis Engineering, so that De Ridder can continue for years to come. A fine example of sustainable innovation in the railway sector.
